Going FX, Video with DSLRs

If you are into photography and had a closer look at the image, you’ll have noticed the very shallow depth of field. This is one of the first pictures I took with my first FX camera, the Nikon D800. I also bought excellent Nikkor AF-S 50mm f/1.4 G — and the image above was taken with it.

I have very little time atm, but I’m currently getting used to the camera and I already took some great shots with it.

I also started reading about video since I am eager to test the video capabilities of the D800. My first video test gave me a 35 secs MOV file and I didn’t really know what to do with it. After some hours of reading and testing software, I ended up using the free edition of the NLE Lightworks to open and edit the file. I wouldn’t call it intuitive, but I am starting to get used to it — and you can do amazing things with it, that’s for sure.
